All weather car covers

My Z4 sits outside on the drive and gets used a couple of times/week depending on the weather!
Its washed every weekend even if its not used.
Question being - I have had a look at tailored car covers and the one that interests me is called Stormforce.
Its 4 ply thick with the inner being a soft material so as not to damage the paint etc.
I was just looking at keeping the worst of the weather off the car along with the usual seagull cack etc.
Any advice on car covers in general - good or bad because winters coming!!!!
Cheers

hey, I've got the official BMW one and I have to say I think it's awful!

Scratches the hell out of the edges of the bodywork and the zip's completely broken, despite being about 6 months old. So I'm looking at getting the stormforce cover too (haven't got access to a garage, unfortunately :()...

one word of warning though... make sure your car is impeccably clean before putting the cover on. If it's not, the dirt and dust etc will be transferred to the cover and will marr the paint every time you put it on from then onwards. I think that must be what happened to mine.

Yea, I had a bad experience with a cover (was a cheap one though €45). Mine is also kept outside and during the summer I had problems with birds using my roof as a dinner plate! Got a cheap cover and with the slightest wind it blew off. Worse then that when it did blow off it put some scratches on the body. So now I'm stuck between just looking after the car, washing it regularly and keeping a good sealant on it, or spending some cash on a hopefully better cover.

What Tweed said might actually put me against getting another one as most of the time it will be going on after a long journey and any movement on top of road dust/dirt could do more damage then some bird droppings etc.

Still confused.com!

Sorry but I posted this topic on the forum for anyone who has already read it.
This is where it is supposed to be and hopefully other posting will be deleted.

as far as I have read and seen on the forum, everybody advises to buy the oem BMW cover, which fits perfect to the car, there are 2 types, one just covers the roof and the other one is a complete cover :)

I am picking up my BMW 'Tarpaulin' today - this is just a cap for the glass areas, about £65
My car lives outside and even with gummi pfegge (incorrect spelling) stuff on the rubber I want a little extra protection against ice snow etc so that my glass does not stick to the rubber like a few times last winter

I am going to get one as well some time soon, before the weather gets even worse :D
did you get it from Joe?

i got a BMW tarpaulin off ebay a couple of weeks ago, fits beautifully. I do have the luxury of a garage, but its a bit of a squeeze with kids bikes etc, so will only stick it away in the worst of the weather. I'm sure the full BMW cover is very good.

Not a problem when it is a small difference
A big problem on say hardtops with a range from £700 to £1200 depending on the day
