I do like that, though I think I'd rather have an Infiniti FX50 if I had the cash.

The whole Range Rover thing has turned into a hideous collection of twinkly magpie status symbols. They used to represent classic British understatement and luxury. They are now built for god awful people with too much money and not enough taste like professional footballers.
Just looking a second time, I really like it.
I'm a Defender fan too, but reading the new chassis is lighter than the Evoques ais overall 500kg lighter than the current one is impressive.
If they make a serious hybrid one also it'd be well bought in London 8)

Sorry, but as a Previous LR owner, you can't compare a Range Rover to anything BMW can offer.
It's a proper offroad vehicle. BMW, Mercs, Audis just arnt. Nothing wrong with that though, but shouldn't be compared.
Yes, most won't even touch mud which is a shame, but I'm sure this will be an awesome vehicle.
I would probably have a Disco 4 over one as its the vehicle for everything. The only downside to these vehicles offroad is their weight!

I wonder if they'll let Victoria Beckham loose on this one? To be fair she did a good job on the limited edition Evoque.

The reason I compare is that most people buy these vehicles for some combination of status, style, image, load carrying capacity, etc. etc. If it were not the case nobody would buy any of the others in the category. For what most are used for you do better with an on road focussed vehicle than the compromises of all the 4WD, lower mpg, cost to purchase, etc.
For those who need off road capability, towing in difficult conditions, and not the austere feeling of true off roaders, then the LR is high on the list of choice.

Yes see what your saying, but i think people will also be buying into the "I have a proper Offroader"
If your going to compromise with a big high car, you might as well go the whole way. A 5 series would be a better road car than a X5 obviously. Personally, i dont get the point of a half way house!
Obviosuly other people do, which is why you see so many SoftRoaders on the roads...

I think people choose the X5 over a Range/Land Rover because of the historical reliability issues, but you would have to ask PVR why?
My nephew runs an auto transmission repair company... has a constant stream of RRs in for rebuilds. They do still have issues, unfortunately. That said, I'd still take one over an X5.
I quite like this one, i do think they have a real classy look but the problem is they have such a bad image, the roads up here in Cheshire are full of them and for 70k i could think of better things to spend the money on, as for "soft roaders" im on my second Freelander and both have beed faultless, brilliant for towing the caravan and very comfortable for everyday use but each to their own hey.

Wouldnt class a freelander as a Soft Roader, they are very capable! Obviously the 2wd ones are different!
