Broke down for the first time in our Z this week. Bit guilty of not listening to the warning signs, but I thought the battery was on its way out.
A little bit of hesitation when starting, but then I hadn't been on a run in a while, just short journey's, so a decent clip, I thought, would sort it out...but no time for that quite yet.
..so another trip to the supermarket, roof down, lovely weather.
Back to the car and nothing, dead as a dodo, not even a click from the starter motor..battery i thought.
Call to the AA then and they test the battery, all ok sir. Must be something else...pound signs are my first thought !
It's either the starter motor, or the engine was the next chirpy comment. Gulp...
So off to the garage we go..
While there, I mentioned the clutch burn type smell that I was going to ask about on my next visit, Oh & it's losing water a little bit.
Verdict
Starter motor £220
Collapsed water pump bearing £200
Front brake caliper binding £50
and by the way sir, you need the front anti roll bar bearings replacing.
So great that I'm with the AA, got me out of a hole free of charge, but with a little bit of neglect comes a fairly hefty bill...
