All a bit dim

Morning,

So given the recent niggles with my Zed (not really even that but I worry for England and as soon as anything is wrong I go completely off the deep end)...

1) Seems to be using oil again and telling me to add oil, then it's ok...then the light comes on when I stop etc....
2) Slow puncture that needs sorting,
3) It was keyed in Waitrose two weeks ago so need to look at getting that sroted.... ARGH!

I was driving to workt his morning when I noticed that mileage display screen and the display for the radio were very dim.

Checked I hadn't knocked anything and then it came back to full brightness again. Did this once more en route but apart from that was fine.

So, any ideas... don't want something else to become a 'niggle'

Hi,

Have you got auto lights - If so, were the headlights coming on and therefore dimming the instrument lights?

On the headlight switch there is a small hole,top left I think.
Believe there is a light sensor in there that controls the illumination level of the mileage and radio.
It could be getting confused by the low early morning sun.
Its easy to check,just put your finger over it for a bit it will think its dsrk and the display will dim.
 
Lol - Thanks guys.... potentially me being completely thick there!

I did notice a couple of times the lights going on and off but I'd never noticed such a change in the mileage/radio before.

I will give it a try to test the theory.

Complete Bummer about your Z getting keyed, what's with people, I mean I could understand a mad girlfriend or something like that, (not that I agree with it, but understand) but to mess with someone's car just because it's there shows no respect, no class, and no up bringing!

I wish I could catch someone doing this, it wouldn't mater who's car it was, just like to catch them in the act!
 
I know, I can't understand it. It's petty and spiteful and I don't know why people think that it's just ok to do it.

It's not a huge amount but it's noticeable and one part is back to the bare metal. So more expense!!
