Alignment update and some pics

Had my Z4C properly aligned by Ben at String Theory garage (on site at the now well know Caffeine & Machine venue). Ben had my car for the day, and had a play with various settings to see what worked best. My car runs on sport springs, B6 dampers, SE roll bars and 20mm front/15mm rear spacers. Ended up with -2 degrees camber on the front (pulled the pins) and -1.8 on the rear. Ben set a slight toe out at the front to improve steering response and broadly standard spec toe in at the rear.

Net result is a real improvement - the spacers made a big difference to stability generally before we started, making the steering much less twitchy. Adding the additional camber on the front has not made the situation worse, which i was a little worried about. It has however made a big difference to extra mid corner grip - it will still understeer but vs previous set up (on stock BMW alignment) its a huge improvement. The front is also much more responsive and 'pointy'. Rear end is not set up to oversteer, but is not much more mobile on a trailing throttle - can tighten the line effectively by backing off, but it's smooth and doesnt snap.

Overall i'm very impressed with the improvement in the way the car drives. Feels a very well balanced package now, and feels more like a car you can 'grab by the scruff of the neck' and have some fun with. Looking forward to my Eisenmann Race turning up in a couple of weeks to enhance the package!

Car got filthy over the last few days, so took the opportunity to wash it and take some photos, since i know you all love some z4 snaps!

Will not not accelerate front Tyre wear? Seems quite excessive for the front. I think my fronts are around -1.15 degrees camber on the fronts and the inner edges are well worn

Yes it will, but it only does 3k per year so is a compromise I’m happy with for the handling benefits. Does make a bit difference.
