Alignment - Hunter & Supertracker

For those that haven't read the other wheel alignment thread, I had an alignment done at F1 autocentre yesterday

This was met with surprise by a few as it was nowhere near what it should have been so I went back today to have it out with them. They assured me they were correct so I had the bright idea of going over the road to Kwik Fit to get a free Hunter check to compare.

So that gives an indication that the first alignment was indeed OK (I hope), and the reason the rear toe figures were out was that the recommended setting was 1.33, but the machine only did increments of 0.1, so he went with 1.4 left & 1.3 right.

Hope you are keeping up :)

Also, Kwik Fit do a 2-year unlimited alignment that you can visit them at any time for £149.99, although I think if you press them you'll get it cheaper.

Please don't say these are wrong, I can't go back again

Hi there.

I don't want to sound like the voice of doom and gloom, but while the measurements they've taken might be accurate I'm not sure they're comparing them with the right data. The printed one is headed "Z4 [E89] STD" and the screen one says "E85/E86 (2002-2008)". :?

Now I'll confess I know nothing about this topic, other than what I've read here, but I'm sure someone said M cars run different settings to the other models.

If I ever get mine aligned I'll be going to see Will at TWG - I'd be much happier knowing he had done it!

But I really hope you can get to the bottom of it so you can enjoy your stunning P & J properly.

You want everything green Mark, and as mr tidy says the ///Mia’s its own settings.

Sorry :(

As above, you want everything in green or "within tolerances" unsure as to why none of the toe adjustments have been made. Once you change chamber sometimes can knock the toe out but it should be at least to re-adjusted

The Hunter figures were only a free check so no adjustments made as wasn't paying twice for same job. It was only to confirm the setup that had been made by F1 auto on the Super tracker system

I had hunter 4 wheel alignment done last year on the wife's E91 at Jacksons Ford in Henley in Arden. Very impressed with their setup, not only do they have hunter alignment kit but they have a 4 wheel shaker and give the car a thorough shaking before doing the alignment so the suspension settles into a representative position before doing the measurements. i see this as good if you are having new tyres fitted because jacking the car up fully extends the shocks and they may not have fully settled if the car is aligned immediately after. It cost £100 despite them having a difficult job freeing up the seized track rod ends at the front. The guy that set their equipment up used to work in the suspension department at MIRA and Ford use them to prepare a lot of race cars.
