Alexa integration

I am in the process of writing an Alexa integration (skill), but seem to be over complicating what I really want to do.

Are there any experts on the forum around this subject?

I have tested some software that emulates a Wemo with FauxMe, so that was very simple and did the job but that has been "closed" by a new firmware release. All I want to achieve is a LAN based communication channel to a locally based Alexa, and don't really want to go through Lampda's and AWS if I can avoid it.

So you want to talk to your home based Alexa from your mobile wherever you are.. simple, any web facing WiFi security camera with built in speaker can do that for you.

Just set it up next to your Alexa, then to talk to alexa fire up the cam viewing app and talk away.

Very much lost in translation

To clarify, the Alexa and the device is on the same LAN and I want to use the Alexa just as normal, on the LAN as well to talk directly to the device. Normally, you would need to develop an Alexa Skill for that, but it feels like a sledgehammer to crack a nut.

i.e. your garage door or gate thrugh your digigate.

Yep indeed. Bluetooth button integration almost done, IP camera prototype tested and Alexa is going to be my Christmas spare time development integration :D

Bought an Echo with a screen so with the IP camera image it should work quite nicely.

I can see myself sitting in the kitchen ... "Alexa, if the number plate looks Romanian, don't open the gate" :P
