Alcantara wear advice.

Anyone had or have any experience of Alcantara Seats? They feel nice new but I’m curious how they’ll feel and look after, say, 15k miles or so. The seats I’m thinking of use them for the squab and backrest with leather for the backrest bolsters so I don’t want to have to have them recovered as the stitching is very neat and would cost a fortune to be redone.

Cheers muchly.

I’ve got Alcantara in my Zed (but it’s black and the car has only covered 10k miles) and in an Audi. The seats in the Audi are light grey and I’ve attached a pic taken when the car was new and another taken today. The alcantara has never been cleaned and the car is nearly four years old with 23k on the clock. Although the material might look patchy in colour it’s really due to the way the pile on the alcantara is sitting. Also need to allow for the difference in light when pics were taken. I like the stuff, it’s comfortable to sit on, warm to touch, and quite grippy for those moments of spirited driving :D

I had alcantara in my e34 M5 (and the were fine - with the odd brush now & then) when I sold it on 172,000 miles. Although that was when BMW quality meant something :P

They look a lot better than I was expecting tbh, the Audi seats still look new, and fortunately the seats won’t be BMW ones.....

Thanks for the pics chaps.

Used to have Alcantara in my old Mazda 323 Sport. Still looked like new when I scrapped the car. It's tough enough
