alarm woes

Hello,

I've been having problems with my alarm on my 2.0se 07 plate. Upon reading the forums the first thing I did was change the bonnet sensor, this didn't fix the issue. Next thing was to check the battery which appeared to be giving a good voltage. The next thing was to try was locking it without the internal sensors and it didn't sort the problem. I can lock it with the fob for weeks at a time with no problems but when it does alarm then it won't stop at all, I can remove the fuses, drive along, lock it with the key nothing stops the alarm until it decides it's going to stop. The next thing to check is the tilt sensor but I can't seem to find any diagrams for where it is or how to check it? Has anyone got any other suggestions for me to try?

If you disable the interior sensor, the tilt is also disabled.

You can use INPA to read out which sensor gets triggered.
 
Sounds like a similar issue to mine, only happened once at Duxford meet. Just wasn't able to stop the Alarm going off, :(

Hasn't happened since but it's only been a week.
 
Do you have coins left in the cubby? (above the interior sensor) There are posts about how this caused false alarms, I just don't really see why
 
Hi guys,

I've checked this in the past as its also been suggested. I did used to keep coins in there in the past but haven't since the issue has been really bad, I've figured a bit of a frig to get the alarm to stop going off which is yo remove fuses 10, 12 and 39 to then try and start the car and then put the fuses back in. But I'm still having to lock it with the key for the moment.
 
My E46 320d had a tendency to falsely alarm when the battery was a little low on charge. It subsequently had a failed bonnet sensor but these were two distinct and separate problems.
 
Just replaced bonnet switch as have had problem with alarm going off, seems ok now. Obviously common problem as parts guy told me the problem I was having! BMW have modified switch by extending it and cost £35. Someone said it was only £8? Part No. 61319119057

I'm glad you've quoted the number. The bozo in Elms Cambridge parts department couldn't find the bonnet sensor on his diagram, so I haven't been able to replace mine. :thumbsdown:
