Alarm that won't shush......

My alarm keeps going off. Interestingly, the window switch had also just stopped working, could they be connected?
Dont wnat t rush to to the stealership as i've just had lots of work done.
Any ideas please?
Thanks guys, replacing the bonnet latch worked and was a cheap job too. :)

An odd post for the detailing and bodywork section ;)

I'd guess faulty wiring or faulty sensor. How good are you at electrics?

The alarm issue is often caused by a faulty bonnet sensor. Try disconnecting it and see if that quiets the alarm.

The window issue is likely unrelated.

+1 100% bonnet switch (well documneted fault)

I currently have the same issue with my car. Although I find it only happens in the cold.. I have no idea why. After reading this I'm going to have a look at the bonnet sensor, but does anyone have any other ideas that I can check at the same time to rule everything out?

My alarm goes off only when i park the car in sunlight. When it is in the garage or parked at night outside it is ok. I checked the bonnet sensor and cleaned the wiring with connection cleaner but nothing. I believe the problem comes from the sunligting combined with maybe shadows etc.
If i disable the alarm by locking the car with the key in the door it is ok. I also tried once to disaple the interior sensors by pressing the lock key for a few seconds after locking until the alarm lamp lights faster i think and it did not go off. Very strange things. I gave up and lock the car with the key when it is parked in sunlight.

Mine was same fault, I disconnected the bonnet switch entirely... I left mine disconnect for a week and had no more random alarms! so I got a new one from bmminiparts :)

I just had the exact same thing happen to me ..

Took the advice of the Forum and disconnected the bonnet sensor and problem solved..

Just goes to show what an excellent Forum this is for advice..

i have just fitted a new bonnet switch as mine was doing the same. £11.30 from my local BMW dealer and its been fine. easy job to do, but try unplugging it first and if it stops going off you know its the problem.
