Alarm sound when activating

Hello guys have done a quick search but no joy is it possible to have an audible sound when locking and unlocking the car with the key fob ? Sorry if this has been asked before car is the 20i no idrive. Thanks I'n advance Steve

Mine beeps once when I lock or unlock the car. Not sure if it comes with the alarm but in the US, the alarm is standard on the 2012s.

Once locked and you press the lock button on the keyfob again but it won't do anything else though.

Anyways, if it isn't standard in your Z4, I believe it can be coded if you want it to beep.

The alarm is standard on uk cars (I know this cos I've set mine off!) but the beeping on arm/disarm doesn't seem to be - none of my BMW's have ever done it.

I don't see why it can't be coded to beep...the real question though, is how much they will charge for it!

Thanks guys for taking the time to answer, I like the re assurance of a beep as i sometimes have unlocked the car accidentally when walking away, and end up going backwards and forwards :D find its a good way to get out of shopping with the better half. Thanks Steve

My car has idrive, I dont know if yours does, and if it doesn't I dont know if its possible, but I've set mine to re-lock the doors if they aren't opened after unlocking - so in your case, if you locked the car, then walked off and accidentally unlocked it, as the doors aren't going to be opened immediately, after a little while they should re-lock.

I dont know what the delay is, and havent actually tested it works, but might be worth checking if you can set this, as a backup - should be able to do it via the stalk.

As for constantly going back to check if the car is locked, I have OCD periods where I do that sort of thing, but if it can get me out of shopping, then my OCD might flare up more often! :D

Reviving an old thread, does anyone's Z4 make confirmation noise when locking/unlocking the doors? I usually hate the noise, but I quite like the BMW's more subtle sound. It would be good if I can enable it so I know I've locked the doors.

nope just the little "clunk" when the door pops shoot inside door card

My mirrors fold in when I lock the car, which is quite handy as sometimes you don't hear doors clunk or see the indicators flash in certain lighting.

What year is your car and how do they do that? Do you have the smart top module?

Yeah I've got the smart top module installed.

Prior to that I did leave the car unlocked a couple of times.

That answers it. I think smart top is the only way to get folding mirrors when locking.
