Alarm siren going off and cant stop it

Hoping you can help??

Have 53plate Z4 3.0l se model and has been bullet proof until monday.

Went to unlock the car, car unlocked but siren started to go off. So started the car expecting it to shut up but didnt. Drove to work with the siren going off, after about 10mins it goes quiet.

No indicators flashing or engine immobiliser just SIREN noise.

It now happens everytime i unlock the car it goes off for ~10min then shuts up.... gets the looks for the wrong reason and even the police asked me whats up [probs thought i'd nicked it]. Abit embarassing now. :o

Hence the need for help :D
 
Siren? The Z does not have one, uses the horn.

Is this an additional alarm system?
 
1st time that I was going to do my mfsw,disconnected the battery and an alarm went off as the door was locked and the boot open.

maybe that's what he is talking about?
 
To clarify my horn statement - a single tone "horn like" alarm sound, definately not a siren noise.

Mine has a 'siren' certainly doesn't use the horn. Others have had problems with the bonnet switch...... worth a search.
 
Alan - is yours standard? I have never heard a siren in any Z, only the single note "beep" noise.
 
90% of all alarm issues I have seen is relating to the bonnet switch near the wind screen.

Yes purchased new and no 'additions' just the standard alarm - so I thought!
