Alarm Problem

Hopefully someone out there can help me.

The other day I heard my alarm for the first time on z4! Whilst it was going off I was unable to deactivate it from the key fob (tried the spare key too). When it finally stopped I was able to unlock/lock the car using the key in the door but since then I cannot use either key to remotely lock or unlock the car.

What could be the problem?

My car battery seems OK (It starts and no warning lights) unless you mean a different battery? Does the alarm have its own battery?

No. When you mentioned the alarm I thought you had the same problem that I had a week or so back in my Series 1 when my alarm caused my battery to go flat and my remote wouldn't work. My problem was a misfunctioning bonnet alarm sensor.

will a malfunctioning sensor prevent me from arming the alarm?

I should have mentioned that I can't even pop the boot open from either key.

Yes it starts fine, been driving it for a few days since it happened.

A strange one. I would grease the alarm sensor in the bonnet to see if that solves it.

Bonnet sensor was my first thought, caused my alarm to keep going off, but to be honest never had a problem unlocking/locking car, so worth changing (not an expensive part  )

Sensors are only a tenner but many people change them when the problem is generally the bonnet not making contact with the sensor. Fitted a pad on the underside of my Series 1 bonnet which solved my recent problem.

Well it's not the sensor nfortunately. The odd thing as I say is even with the alarm disarmed (obviously as I can't arm it) I still can't pop the boot from either key. Is it possible that I may need to get the alarm reprogrammed or something?

Sorted, if anyone else has the same problem the solution is here http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=33557#p454878
