hello everyone, hopefully someone can help. my 03 z4 has been absolutely fine until the other day when i turned the ignition off and removed the key and noticed the nav screen stayed up and on. also the instrument pack illumination stayed on longer than usuall. i cycled the ignition and the same thing happened. after about 1-2 minutes the screen went off and folded down. i then got out the car and tried to lock via the remote- this didnt happen. i then locked the car via the key and went into the house. i came out about 5 mins later as this was now buggin me. when i used the remote i could now lock and unlock the car but the indicators do not flash. this fault now hapens every time. one other thing i have now had happen is the alarm has gone off and when i have gone to the car the drivers window is down a few mm. any info would be welcome

jagdat - welcome to the forum.

Hope you introduce yourself on the forum and post some photos - kinda a board rule.

I think you've cycled it so much that it's all confused. The system fully shuts down after 20 mins of being untouched

I'd wait and see if it's settled after 30 mins with everything off. If that fails disconnect the battery for a few minutes then reconnect and se if that clears it. (you'll lose a few computer settings, MPG, time, etc. but nothing to worry about)

yes i did think that. i am a technician for jaguar and disconnecting the battery on them seems to work wonders so will try that tomorrow. any other ideas would be appreciated. ok will sort out some photos too.

ok car is now sorted by carrying out a hard reset. ie- disconnecting both battery terminals and putting them together- obviously away from the battery. we do it this way on jags at work and luckily it worked on my z4. where abouts are you from Adam?

annoying- fault re-occured today. not sure if it related to the auto light switch as that is the only thing i changed just before it started playing up although that doesnt really make sence. any other ideas anyone?
