He's an electrician working on circuit boards. I doubt he's ever seen inside any if the cars. He just repairs the boards.
These guys will repair GPU'S, laptops, motherboards and games consoles. They won't have any expertise on cars at all.
That's why I'm not surprised if he didn't know about car specifics.

Looking at his other listings he repairs fridges, hot tubs, washing machines, golf carts, heaters, etc.
All sorts of circuit boards. So yeah he isn't supposed to know everything about the cars the silicone resides in so long as he knows how to repair the board that's all that matters

My point is that many people on this forum have had GM5 modules repaired, by a myriad collection of vendors.
As my prime candidate appears to have gone awol and the one I found on Ebay didn't give me a cosy feeling I decided to utilise the power of the forum to explore other avenues/recommendations.

He charges £45 for every repair too doesn't matter if it's a fridge or a golf cart. To him a circuit board is a circuit board. Flat fee for everything. Safe to assume he knows his way around one.
There are 2 guys on YouTube who I follow if you are interested to see what they do and they walk you through a repair.
Your concerns are regarding the rear console which is something that they have no knowledge about because they only look at circuit boards all day long. They won't have seen an actual car it's used in.
