Alarm Going Off

Hugely expensive. Why so much? I paid a lot less for a bigger battery from BMW for my 740 (was only £45)

It was a lot. In spite of the fact the car is nearly four years old I'm very fussy about retaining originality, hence buying the BMW part. I'm aware that it is a Bosch or Varta or whatever under the BMW badge and that it will not be seen again for three or four years, but it would still niggle away. I read somewhere on this site that they only recently increased the price from c£65.00. :(

no, I meant that my BMW supplied battery for the 740 was £45 including fitting ...

I see. Perhaps they adjust the price seasonally according to demand. I would have thought fifteen minutes fitting time would cost £30 or so. You got a bargain there!

The other sensor that may be playing up is the "tilt sensor"...this is a considerably more expensive sensor to replace and its located close to the rear wheel well from memory...sorry I don't remember which side its on...I recall someone posting some BMW tech documents on it though in the old Z4um forum so someone else might know..

Speaking of Z4um...as much as I love z4-forum I've noticed there isn't as much technical postings/How To's being contributed which is a real shame as they are a fantastic resource for Z4 research...

hmmmm... my Z4's alarm goes off for no reason when parked on or across a hill or incline - i suppose this could be the problem?

Just wanted to post a "thanks" to this forum...

My 06 Coupe alarm starting going off for no reason (and driving my colleagues mad!). I spent a tenner on a new bonnet sensor, swapped it out in 5 min's, and have not heard a squeak from her since. Thanks a million. :D
