It's a big thing in my house! My other half spends hours modding all his airsoft weapons and mines on my lovely cream carpet
Anyways, generally you'll find skirmish sites open on a Sunday and you and your lad can turn up and have a go. Most places you can hire equipment just to get an idea of what it's like, plus you need to play three games over 12 months to be able to buy a replica gun which hasn't been painted like the rainbow due to the law.
My other half has the balaclavas they show on COD which you can get (if your quick when in stock) from Edgar brothers.
With regards to sites, a local airsoft seller should be able to point you in he direction of a meet or you could get yourself onto these forums for more info http://www.airsoft-forums.co.uk http://www.zeroin.co.uk
You get a lot of fathers and sons doing it. It's good fun and the guys are a good bunch. You do get some who take it rather seriously but that's apparent in all aspect of life. However most airsoft sites are in the middle of nowhere so I wouldn't take the Z'd!
This is my toy.......some guys think it's cool, others think it's just a girls gun but it rather hurts when it hits them as it's modded quite a bit. My other half loves modding this so I let him get on with it but the cheapest part was buying the gun, he's spent 10 times it modding
