There is definitely a "roof down" mode. I noticed on mine, that if it is in "auto" and a low temp setting, ie max cooling, then putting the roof down results in it going from auto to manual after a short while.

I think it's so that the system isn't trying to achieve an "unobtainable" temp one the roof has been dropped. Pusing the auto button after it has done this will allow it back to auto, BUT it will then change back to maual. It doesn't do this with the roof up.

Cheers Mike will see if mine does that. An old Saab i once owned used to switch the sircon off when the roof retracted. Half expected the 85 to do the same so thought i would check with you guys. :thumbsup:
 
It certainly still operates roof down. Interesting if it changes mode. Not used the roof enough to spot that one. :D
 
I'm impressed that your aircon still works - mine gave up about 5 years ago. I think I've only missed for 4 or 5 journeys since then - and that's in a Coupe.
