Not really understanding your point...
If Auto is off when you switch the car off it should be off when you switch it on again. If you press Auto it turns the AC on but this can be turned off through coding so that Auto doesn't automatically turn the AC on. I've done this on mine as I like the temperature control but don't need AC most of the time.

As above slightly confused.
A problem I had though was when I was using my old zee as a daily. In the winter with the roof up, the ac was always on auto. However getting in and starting up it started reverting to manual. Press the auto button and it was fine. Would have to repeat this every time.
I eventually found the issue. The fan control knob was set between two positions. Obviously this shouldn't happen but somehow it did. Anyway moving the knob to a proper position fixed the issue.

Lmfao sorry guys just re read my post and not surprised you are all confused so let me try again.
I get in my car and drive with the aircon set to Auto. Get home park the car and sometimes when i get back in the car and start it the aircon Auto facility has turned off so i have to select Auto.
Hope that is more of an explination.

The Auto A/C has a "roof down" mode that activates when the external temperature is above a certain level. I noticed this a while ago on mine. I think the reasoning behind it is that it stops the system running the compressor flat out continuously.

Yes but that doesnt explain why when i am driving with the roof down and the auto is showing as on. Then i park up and next time i start the car in the morning with the roof up the auto function is off. Oh and sometimes in the morning its on. Think i need to find a full write up on how the auto function works. 
Think i have found the answer. The time period for the auto to turn off is approx 15 mins. My journey home with the roof down is just under or just over 15 mins depending on traffic. So some journeys it turns the auto off and sometimes when i get a clear run it doesnt have time to turn off before i get home and park up.

Same problem I had, move the fan knob, see if that fixes it.
