Aircon question

Bu×÷er, looks like I need to get it sorted. Just blows out the ambient air.
Hopefully just needs a regas.
Halfrauds are doing a free check, nothing to lose I suppose.

I’ve driven in stinking hot/sunny weather with the top down and aircon on max...very pleasant if not environmentally considerate..

Only your dignity if you are seen there...

Groupon are doing a deal on ATS Euromaster for a regas for £38.99 at the moment. So thats my E89 and the Mrs TT booked in :D

What's this dignity thing you're talking of?
Some stuff at halfrauds is ok, their 'professional ' range of tools.
It's a free check for leaks and pressure so if it doesn't fail those it might be off to ATS for a regass.

Oh well, it's not the refrigerant or leaks.
Time for an aircon specialist. :headbang:

Presumably you have checked that the battery is good? I had climate control problems with an old battery although it was the fan speed fluctuating every 5 seconds or so. Worth ruling out

Just putting this out there, is the air from all vents not cold or just the main centre dash ones?
The main centre dash ones has its own hot/cold adjustment that can work independently of the rest of the aircon.

Thanks for the suggestions.
The fan is happy to run flat out and it's ambient air through all the vents.
I don't hear the compressor kicking in, not sure if you normally do.
The engine note doesn't change at all when I switch the aircon on or off on tickover.

Is the clutch on the AC compressor powered through an available fuse you can check??
Now that I don't know, anyone got any idea?

Woohoo, fixed it for free.
Diagnosed as the connector on top of the compressor, it was loose, plugged home till it clicked in place and hey presto, cooling air.
Thanks for all the advice.

You can’t beat the sense of achievement when you plug it in and it works :D
