AIRBAG WOES... not your normal issue EDIT FIXED

Hi all,

I am hoping someone can help, I changed my driver window mechanism all went well followed instructions to the letter with regards to airbag disconnecing/reconnecting.

But once all was sorted my airbag light came on.. hmm so I plugged in my laptop, firedup INPA software, hit F6 for E85, selected Safety modules, clicked information hit clear error memory, light went out.. came straight back on.. read the error memory.. no errors!???

Had an MOT they tried to clear it there CODE reader/clearing tool says no module connected or words to that effect, so I went home tried INPA again, back into E85, read all faults codes spits out an error message say module not found when it gets to the airbag, stripped door checked plug, same, disconnected battery for nearly two hours in an act of desperation, tried INPA again, nothing all ways the same, no errors detected, no module prgrams fits and crahes. So I'm totally out of ideas, black bit on plug has part of it broken BUT the main pins that go in the green plug are there and seem to engage. So time for a trip to stealers I guess!.. maybe they can also fix the reversing sensors that are not working either.. replacement I bought has different click to others so I'm guessing its duff... but again no error codes/no long beep.. flipping BMW electrics!

I have a 16year old lotus elise and it's been perfect over the past 10 years.. both my BMWS have been a right old pain in comparison :( which is a shame as when they are working they are AWSOME.

Pretty normal for e85, on some cars you can connect to airbag module , insteaf go to safety modules and clear faults from each airbag separately

Tried that, is says the door module is not there :( now thinking it could be the door harness.. Most frustrating.

I have had a similar issue - electrician found a fault in the passenger door airbag connector. I too had the window motor replaced.

It was something to do with the connector to the airbag itself, i recall him saying there were 2 pins in the airbag part of the connection that either needed to be moved together or moved apart (sorry bit vague). To stop it going off when not wired up. Anyway he cobbled something together and the Airbag light now stays off.

After reading the replies I ordered a secondhand harness of eBay, replaced the black clip on the airbag squib connector, cleared the code using inpa software.. boom sorted!

Thanks for the advice folks.
