Airbag Warning Light

Guys, I have an airbag warning light showing on my 2003 E85 3.0 Roadster and want to find out what the problem is and reset it if possible.
I've read various posts about using a code reader or different pieces of software to read the error codes and do the reset, but most of the posts are pretty old.
So I was wondering; what is the most up to date / effective / cheap way to read error codes and reset the airbag warning light?
Can you recommend which code reader or software tool to use please?
Many thanks!

If you don't already have a code reader then I would suggest for speed's sake, say where you are and hope there's a friendly local member who can read the codes for you.
For a decent handheld reader look at Autophix 5900, or 7910, or Creator 310+ or 410+.

Reading the codes is step one. Unless you are very lucky it is highly unlikely you can simply reset it without some remedial action first.
You may find the light goes out until the next ignition cycle.
So get the code and post back here for further info.

I had the air bag light come on a couple of years ago and used my Creator 410+ to delete it and it hasn't come back yet, so you might be lucky. You can buy them on Amazon.

Thanks for the advice enuff_zed.
I'm based in Guildford, Surrey, in case there's anyone nearby with a code reader.
I'm happy to travel!
Ah, was that you on fb? Chap in Littlehampton offered to help. If it wasn't you then there's another bloke in Guildford with the same issue.

@darchard - fingers crossed it is a quick reset and you're sorted. But if it turns out you both need modules fitted and coded, get back to me as I could do a trip down and sort two at once.

Brilliant, thanks enuff_zed, much appreciated!

Any comments on the differences between the Autophix 5900/7910 and the Creator 310+ / 410+ and which is the best one to get?
I assume the 7910 is better than the 5900 and the 410+ is better than the 310+?
But which is better; Creator or Autophix?

I feel an eBay purchase coming on!

I use a creator 410 and it does everything I need on all BMWs I own

I have pc based bmw tools but if a warning light pop up the creator is my go to

I have not used a Creator, but @bigwinn does very similar stuff to me and endorses it.
The only difference I can find is that with the Creator you have to know which system you want to check, then select it.
You can do the same with the Autophix, but can also do a full system scan.
I initially had the 5900 which shows all the modules with errors by highlighting them in red. The 7910 goes one step further and shuffles them all to the top of the list.

Thanks for the explanation enuff_zed. I just ordered the Autophix 7910which should arrive next week.
I'll check for error codes when it arrives and post them here for your insights!
