Airbag warning light - expensive little fella!

Red light came on a few weeks ago. After reading about occassional issues with even finding the fault code I booked it into the dealers - though half expecting it to be a simple reset or something. After diagnostics at £99 p/h it was the drivers side seatbelt tensioner and a repair to associated wiring loom (parts were £135).
So all in Just over £400  Cars only done 59,000 miles, just wondering if its a common fail item?

I had the same problem showing a fault on the cable
Gave the battery terminals a good clean and reset the airbag light and no problems since

Had same diagnosis from an independent using some sort of code reader....seat belt tensioner issue. Took it to BMW who diagnosed it as a dirty connection that caused a low voltage/high resistance in a single wire connection in battery well. The connector was cleaned and had dielectric grease used on the connector. The fault has never returned in the almost 2 years since the diagnosis/repair. Cost me one hours labour charge.

I had an independent Auto Electrician diagnose mine for £50
This was after I had been to four other indy's who's readers couldn't find the fault
They fixed the fault on the battery terminal and reset the light on their diagnostic computer at the same time
Have you disconnected your battery recently or did your light just come on
Airbag lights seem to be a common problem on Z4's according to this forum
Good luck with it

Cost me almost £500 to get mine fixed last year. Something called the gateway module failed and needed replaced. They could reset the code but it would just come back on so had to pay up
