Airbag 'Open Circuit'

Well here goes in case anyone has 'been there done that'

Sometime back I retrofitted many bits from seats to door cards to steering wheel and as regulars know needed to rip most of my car to bits to do all these installs.

During it I tripped an airbag sensor, got it reset by BMW and then sometime later it showed up again. Deciding not to pay BMW more money I invested in Carsoft and it's cool, cleared lots of codes, but not the airbag :headbang:

Off to BMW who looked and after relieveing me of £40, advised it's got an 'open circuit on the passenger side airbag' and would need booking in for investigation and fix (read 'sounds expensive').

Having pulled the door card off and double checked the airbag it's correctly connected.

So anyone with any experience of tracking down this sort of problem as although I'd like to find the problem myself the airbag circuit is one to be treated with caution? I'm assuming the harness simply follows from airbag to door connector and then under the dash and back through the console to the control unit that IIRC is behind the handbrake, under the console?

what was the outcome of this cj?
I've had my door apart at the weekend and now have a airbag warning light on. think i've tripped the airbag sensor. Doh.
I've not plugged the laptop in yet to see what the fault code is yet (I've not got Carsoft, but have suitable program to read error codes)
Thanks

BMW replaced the door loom that seems to have broken, presumably in the door pillar where it flexes. No problems since.

You are most likely to have discinnected the airbag with the ignition on and so tripped warning.

Good luck with yor software clearing it.
