Airbag light

Hi all, I have a problem with my airbag light. Every time I start my 2006 Z4 2 L the air bag light stays on for over a minute and then turns off, is this standard? However, with the light on during that minute there is no electrical function for the roof and indicators and interior instrument light does not work until the airbag light goes off. Has anyone got a clue about this fault ?
 
Hi Coolie72. Reading the error codes should narrow down to a specific diagnosis, but without that, a bad battery or a loose battery terminal would be my bet.
