Hi Chaps,

Airbag light just came on for the second time in 12 months  . I have recently fitted the remote module and I don't for a second think it was the cause but have a question.

The car has a fully comprehensive zero excess BMW warranty so I will be dropping it off to them to see what the problem is. Do you guys think I should remove the module before taking it to the garage? I don't want them to wiggle there way out of fixing the problem and blaming me for the issue. I managed to use the scotch locks, so not a massive job, just a bit of a pain!

Advice please!!!!

You don't say which module as there are several makes on the market with different functions.

Couple of comments:
1) I agree fitting a module is unlikley to be that cause unles in so doing you diconnected ot tripped the circuit. I would remove it though as for sure the garage will use it and an excuse if they see it and the faut is in any way related

2) Never use scotchlocks on canbus connections. Mechanical fixings are a major cause of problems on such circuits. Always use a non mains soldering iron on the connections

Sorry good point. It was the latest group buy from Gaptech with remote option.

I think you are correct about the scotchlocks and I did feel like a cowboy using them. I think I was being a little impatient not soldering the wires. Just out of interest what is the reason for not using a mains soldering iron? I have a hand held gas filled one I can use so not a problem really, just curious!

I will take your advice, remove the module and get it booked in.

With a mains soldering iron it's possible to earth through the wires and do countless damage to the electronic modules. Treat it as you would if working on a pc.

I use a mains one, but unlug it and use residual heat then plug in between joints.
