Airbag light on - Have you been affected? (UK)

Can i ask how you managed to get a MOT as an airbag light on is a MOT fail???

I can understand if the car brand new but a 2004 plate car has to have an MOT??

I am missing some thing!!

Thank
Al

Just got this myself, hadnt even heard of a problem until i did a search.

Anyone managed to find a solution? (assuming it's the seat sensor) Is there a way to disable the seatbelt alarm in conjunction with the seat occupancy module?

There is no way in hell i am going to spend hundreds of pounds to sort a dash light, i'd rather sell the car on basic principle!

yes been affected just took it into a specialist

£376 all in !

come on BMW recall this issue!

at the same time driving up my electric window regulator went so that was £250 i think someones got a voodoo doll of my car just now!

All work done a douche mark edinburgh top class guy! can not nock them in anyway! and the car came back full valeted !

£376 sounds not bad to be honest (but yes, I agree BMW need to recall this!). I would happily(ish) pay a flat fee of £376 to BMW to fix this, but the worry is either it won't be fixed or the problem will re-occur soon after I get it back.

Mine came on last week, done nothing about so far, reading these threads I'm just to chicken to get lumbered with a huge bill for not fixing anything, surely if something is tried and found not to work it should be put back as was and no charge for parts used made as they are not required, though I accept some labour costs would be incurred.

My airbag warning light has just come on, in my 2003 plate.

Unfortunately, the car ended up in flooded water earlier this year, and was in Sytner Leicester's for approx 2 months - needed a reconditioned engine and new passenger side xenon headlight system (flood water in the xenon headlights 'ignition box').

I am now concerned that this airbag warning light may have something to do with it - I am not very savvy about car mechanics - could someone please advise me whether flooded water could affect this 'passenger seat sensor or mat' that people have been mentioning on this thread?? To clarify, no flooded water actually entered the cabin, but it was in water upto the level of mid-alloys (hence the need for new xenon light and engine).

It also needs an Inspection I now, so hopefully will kill two birds with one stone, and they can check whether this could be flood water related? I am not keen to take it back to Sytners because the Xenon headlight problem was detected after I picked it up and took it to an independent garage; so they may just fob me off and say it is nothing to do with the previous flood water problem.

Any advice would be welcome, thanks!

Hi,

My airbag light came on this morning, from starting up, it was a cold morning (frost) so I thought it may have been related. I was hoping once warmed up it would disapear but it has stayed. I would like to know if it could be reset? to see if it happens again.

Regards

Kev.

Hi,

mine came on a few days after I bought the car(privately) It's a 2004 2.2L there is no fault code ..checked it myself with a fault reader.

I haven't taken it to a bmw dealer yet..hoping to fix it myself , but If there is extended warranty I will...must phone BMW on Monday !

Fixit man

Hi i final cure my problem

My air bag came on my 2005 Z4 2.2i

Tried a cheap module from ebay solve one problem but created a seat belt fault - got rid of it !!

After reading on forum this solution module seems to works if seat are pre 2007

This Module worked for me !!! --- good service got from http://www.bimtronics.com/ £50

After fitting visited independant dealer and air bag light is off.....

Problem in total cost about £70 diagnostics at garage - first module was £15 and second was £50 and another £50 in labour total £185 but it working

Glad to hear it is working. I want to get one of these too but need to find a place that will fit it and clear the ECU at the same time...

Couple things... if you have a problem on post facelift M sport seats, I have an occupancy sensor I've removed, if anyone needs it.

I have been told that you can get the occupancy sensor coded out of operation (essentially doing the same as the eBay boxes) - sounds like a good solution - nothing visible plugged in and you'd be paying for the light reset anyway, could potentially get this all done for the one charge.

Am willing to give that a try, but can't find anyone local with the kit to do it

Mine is still on, but I'm pretty sure it's the loomage for the pre-tensioner on the drivers side (as the INPA says)

I've just got to replace the cable to see if I can fix it.

It'd be interesting to know if this light on issue is the occupancy sensor for most users, as there are so many things that can bring the light on.

If I get chance I'll try get a GT1 working again, since that should enable easier re-coding, and you can just code out the occupancy sensor then.

Hmmm
