Airbag light first things to check?

Thanks for the offers of help, appreciated! Also helps to put this garage into context. We're going to switch to an alternative independent. This one was chosen mainly because it was in a good location.

Is the slip-ring a component of the wheel hub, or is it totally separate, that's that I'm trying to understand... Others on this forum imply that just taking it all apart for the first time in 17 years and just cleaning the electrical contacts could have resolved it too... Oh well.
It is a separate component. Take the wheel off then unplug it and it lifts away with the switches mounted on it.

OK so here's the detailed invoice...

vehicle fault - airbag light.
carry out diagnostic test.
ACSM - drivers airbag stage 1
carry out further check, clockspring has no resistance.
strip down and replace steering wheel clockspring hub.

3 hours labour - £225 (central glasgow)
clock spring hub part - 1@£235.
- £460 + VAT = £552.

The light is out, so far, although the car needs driving some more over the next week to prove it.
