Airbag lamp turned on after fitted MFSW

Hello

Fitted my MSFW and after that the airbag lamp turned on, a local dealer diagnose with "not enought power came to the airbag?" Someone had this problem before? :cry:
 
Sounds to me like that would just be a bad translation of the German diagnostic software, it probably means 'no power to the airbag' eg a bad connection.

Yea but what if IT is a bad connection? I havent changed anything with the cables?

One black and one Green in the airbag, then 2 cables in the steering wheel!
 
Seems fairly likely you have one of the following:

Didn't disconnect battery for 15 mins before removing aribag
Didn't connect the 2 connectors onto both the airbag and slip ring correctly
Damaged the harness or connectors during dismantle or fitting

Personally I'd disconnect, strip it back down, reconnect and have a reset done. If it comes on again then deeper diagnosis.

I've fitted 3 MFSW sets, several paddle sets and never tripped the airbag because of the new or different wiring.

I did that the first time(s) and I can't remember if the lamp turned on the first time. But what if I only waited 10 mins the second time, what should I do then? The local dealer tryed to reset it but it is still on. I don't know what to do more :cry:
 
If they tried to reset the light and it won't go out, you have either not plugged something back in or damaged the wiring loom. I did exactly the same to my door recently. If all the wiring is correct, the airbag light will go out immediately once reset.

Sorry I know it's not what you want to hear, but you're going to have to strip it all down again.

Spot on. If the dealer cannot reset it then you have either left it unplugged, wrongly connected or damaged something. In essence the circuit is not complete so each time it's reset the light will come on.

You can redo all your work and have it reset again, but are likley to be spending more money, unless you see something obvious wrong on a rebuild.

Next it's work of a specialist to trace the fault and fix it and give you a fat bill.

Thank you anyways, i will try to strip it down and redo it again, if it doesnt work i will have to bring up the big wallet :cry:

Btw, it doesnt matter that I needed to take electric from the Light Switch Centre because my car was manufacutred before 09/03. But it shouldnt matter? I did it after this guide http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=16422
 
I can't answer or readily comment upon a statement.

If you are asking if not connecting feed wires for the MFSW would cause an airbag light then correct. They are not related to that circuit.
