After a bit of troubleshooting and lots of help from @enuff_zed - we managed to get the new module coded in and working correctly! Thanks so much again, you are an absolute star.

Just to note - I downloaded the MikesEasyBMWTools package and my KDCan cable wouldn’t connect to the car, I changed my COM port to COM 9 after finding the ini file and it worked.

Another note - I purchased the generic cable from eBay and although other info online says to change the switch all the way to the right, this one required me to keep it all the way to the left.

Now onto the interior strip out to fix my soaking wet carpet (which was the reason this module failed in the 1st place!)

Hey guys,

need to jumpt into this old post, it hits exaclty my problem, but just can't get it sorted.

E85 Z4 year 2003 needs to be fitted used Airbag module SIM85

What I allready did, is flashing correct Dataset and VIN with ISTA-P. Flashing was OK, but coding failed.

Then I tried

• coding with NCSExpert, but it keeps failing, because of "Der Codierindex folgender Steuergeräte ist für diesen Codierauftrag nicht zulässig: SIM 05", meaning, the coding index is not used for this action.

• Then I tried it with expert mode, so I could change die coding index manually from SIM_E85.C01 to SIM_E85.C05 --> still the same error message

• Coding read and write is throwing the same error message

• Using Kernfunktionen/Basicfunctions, coapiReadNettoDataFromSg and coapiReadSgGetFswPsw is running fine, I get the correct .TRC file

• But trying to write any coding to the controll unit just keeps failing.....

• Re-flashing with WinKFP does not change anything.

Any ideas, how to get the job done?
