Airbag control unit replacement - does it need coding?

Ok so I am getting closer to fixing my Z after the recent water episode.

Seems I will have damaged my airbag control unit. Has anyone replaced theirs? If I get a second hand one will it need coding to my car?

This is the part in question

Thanks in advance

I've never replace mine, but I think I have a spare unit somewhere if you're struggling to find one?

May do, I'm winning for one on eBay at the moment but will let you know how it goes! How come you have a spare?

No problem, I'd need to check its the correct part number. On my last Z4 I hit a kerb (not particularlty hard) which set off the side airbag. I was told I needed a new control unit when fitting a new airbag, but it turned out that I didn't need it.

Give me a shout if you have no luck on ebay and I'll check for you,

Andrew.

Big thanks to Andrew, another forum deal done properly!

To answer my own question, the 'safety control module' doesn't need coding, plug and play!
