Air filter advise

Im considering getting an aftermarket air filter, Im not expecting any sort of performance gains whatsoever...Im simply after a good noise.

Before someone suggests taking the foam out of the noise generator pipe thing, I've already done that, taken both bits of foam out and it sounds great!

However, as much as it makes me sound like a bit of a hooligan I would like the noise to be outside the car too not just in the cabin.

So does anyone have any advise on what brands or styles of filter to get, the m3csl carbon airbox seems to make a great change to the m3's engine but I have a 3.0si so its not going to sound like that PLUS i dont have the budget for a carbon airbox, in fact if you can suggest a good enough one that is kind on the pennies I might even be able to ask the mrs to get it for me for xmas!
 
You're probably looking at something like the Gruppe-M, Eventuri or Simota carbon intakes.

A quick google search should find you what you're looking for.
 
I had a simota Carbon Fibre induction kit on my M54. Sounded absolutely incredible and you could tell it was loud outside as people were turning around wondering wtf was coming down the road :lol:

Just sold it to Markplant on here, so hopefully he will enjoy it as much as I did!

Ive just fitted an afe which sounds great.. However you do lose some of the noise gained from the sound generator mod so its actually a bit quieter in the cabin, have to say though when the roof is down it does sound lovely, going to do the exhaust next and if it overpowers the sound of the induction i may well sell the induction kit
