Air Con

Hi,

I have done a search and there are some issues with air con already posted but nothing similar to mine. This is one of two things that I need to get sorted before the warranty expires and I was wondering if anyone else is having similar issues.

Generally I have found the air con to be poor compared to other cars I have owned and I just can't get it to work properly on auto. Between the coldest or hottest setting there seems to be very little temperature variability. For example, If I start with it set at a high temp and then turn it right round to cool (this could be in stages or straight round), there is very little noticeable change in temperature. The only way to get proper cooling is to set it to minimum, which defeats the object of having climate control. I have resorted to using the air con in manual mode but still find that takes a while to adjust to a new setting.

Has any one else had similar issues? Is it a 'feature' of the car?

I think this will be a tricky one to explain to the dealer so any help would be appreciated.

Details of car? Auto climate control?

I have no trouble with my '07 coupe. That AC will freeze you out.
 
All UK cars have the same - auto climate.

I've heard of this before, mine used to struggle in hotter weather just like you say. Maybe it needs regassing but not so sure that will help much. I would think the US cars have a more effective system, be interesting to see if the part numbers were any different?
 
In all 3 of the Z4's that I've had the AC has worked just fine and we do get some very hot humid weather in Pennsylvania during the summer. I was in Texas 2 years ago and drove 6 hours or so in 105F/40C plus temps and no problem at all... :thumbsup:
