Air con not working!!

Hi All,

Went to use the air con today and it wouldn't work at all the even the air con light wouldn't light up. The fan wasn't great either. I've not used the air con for some time and recently the battery needed charging.

Has anyone heard about this? Has the battery going flat caused it or just lack of use?

Pretty fed up as had a few problems with break downs (not cars) so could do without this.

How long hasn't the aircon been used for? It's a concern of mine as your recommended to use at least once a month to keep the seals lubricated, but as I'm looking to stand mine up for the winter I'm a bit worried about it happening to me. :(
 
Months and months!

Not used the car for quite a while. And the last few times didn't need the air con.

I have extended warranty which I hope covers it. But any idea of a quick fix would be great.

It might just need re gassing if it's under warranty just take it to BMW and plead ignorance I guess.
 
Hi i've just had mine pack in on me, has just your air con stopped working or as all the controls? I've got no lights on mine at all, not even the demisters working, the fans blowing very weak but doesnt seen to be blowing air out of any of the points, got extended warranty to but due to being away this weekend, not going in till friday, so like you hoping it's covered, although i did check the fuses & found that the aircon one had blown as soon as i put the new one in ignition off it blew straight away, I did have a few other problems as well at the same time as the heater controls stopped working

Sounds more like yours has gone into transit mode which has been reported a few times on here. Have you had any battery issues?

Yep, exactly the same issue as with you, no control lights & weak fan. Lets keep in contact as it sound we are sitting next to each other in the same boat.... I'll PM you my mobile number too.

Sounds like your right, the battery was... "cough" low on charge the other week....... is there a DIY fix for the transit mode?

Booked it in for fault finding and repair.....

Sorted.....

Car went in today first thing, and just had a call saying it was due to the battery down on charge and the car went into trasit mode. Charged the battery up and reset the system and all is working again.... :thumbsup:

Big thanks to srhutch for his post and J90wel as it was handy going in with a little knowledge.

Must say BMW Sytners in Leicester are really good, no messing just hope the Dont Wash signs in the car were respected.....

U don't mind if I ask u did it go thru ur warranty?? I have the same problem occur... And hoping to put it in thru dealer....

Yes Extended warrenty but like i said i would like to hope it would be a 30min charge.
 
Hi recent update on mine, unfortunately mine wasnt in transit mode, it went in on saturday and could not fix the fault, came up as a few blown fuses so replaced them and they blew again straight away, they also couldnt reprogramme the keys to the car, couldnt explain how the service interval had been reset or all the lights coming up on dash, They have picked it up this morning & will be with them for upto 4 days, there trying a new electronic control module to see if that curesit, also stripping part of the heater system, on the plus side it's covered under the extended warranty, & also very kind to notice water in the fog lights, so thats being sorted as well, on the down side they dont have any courtesy cars till next week, so no car bad times
 
Bugger....

Well thank god for extended warrenty... Fingers crossed it will all get sorted and the car will be ready to rock n roll next week..

Hi got mine back on sunday, two wires on the rear view mirror sensor for the central locking had shorted out somehow, waiting for a more accurate report to be emailed to me, as it was all covered under warranty and couldnt give me a copy of the work done. Everything all working fine now, and they also noticed water in the fog lights so they were replaced aswell under warranty. Hope yours is still going ok Paul

All good mate,

Like i said on the text glad its sorted and under warrenty.

It so happens since ive dusted the Z4 off and used it a doubt we have a had a dry day plus since the air con was sorted i have used it but had no real need too!!!!

Bloody Uk weather!
