AIR CON FAN

Hi all,

New to the forum and I have just picked up my new Z4 COUPE today. I picked it up from Leicester BMW and drove down to Reading. When I pulled up I and got out of the car, engine still running, I heard a loud noise. On further inspection it was the fan. Everytime I put the aircon on the fan started spinning and it seems really loud to me, like the normal noise of a fan plus a loose kind of sound. This is my third BMW and I never had a problem like this before. Any ideas?

I haven't got an answer for you but my coupe is doing a similar thing - started in the hot weather a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like a problem with the bearings when the fan is on as the noise is a lot louder than it used to be. Ive got it booked into bmw derby in a couple of weeks time so will keep you posted.
 
The fan will always run soon after the aircon on, not sure about the noise though perhaps it is rubbing on the cowling slightly?
 
Hi all,

I have booked my cay in with BMW COOPER READING to look at the fan under warranty. He said he will not discuss if its warranty until they look at it. I'm a little worried encase they try and hit me with a a big bill. Anyone been through this process? Anyone with the same fault? Thanks.

If your cars is still under warranty I wouldnt worry, cant see how it can be anything but covered.
