Air con compressor removal

Guys

Need some guidance here if you’ve done this before

Ok, yes the bolts holding the air con pipes into the compressor are T40 torx, so now got these out, but how do you get the pipes out of the compressor. I know they should be push fit with O ring seals, but no amount of wiggling and pulling seems to get them moving, and there’s no real space down the side of the engine to get anything in to lever them.

I have the drive belt off, and the bottom bolt out, and can see the other two so think I am ok there.

2 nd question, there’s a wire going across the top through some small flex tube, and this tube has 2 screws holding it to the pump, but I can’t get a screwdriver onto either of them. I have even tried a screwdriver bit in a flexible dive socket but pipes and other bits are in the way, so how do you get these off.

Any tips/tricks/advice greatly appreciated

Cheers
Al

Can I just check you have had the refrigerant removed? If not then you are going to get a nasty shock when those pipes come out, plus illegally venting it to atmosphere.

Sorry, it’s not, that’s a 2 ltr. Mines a M54 6 pot. A few more videos show removing it with the engine out, and also not M54 engines.

Yes, had it degassed 👍

It might be easier if I could get the heat shield out of the way but it wraps round the back of the engine with a hole in it wher the steering column passes through it.

Takes 2 mins to undo the sterring shaft bolt and slide the shaft down, be careful to secure the steering wheel with lasking tape so it doesnt move.

Doesn't matter if it moves a little bit, so can simply move it until the steering lock engages.
