Air bag light

I assume that oyu did not disconnect the battery and during the course of the change turned on the ignition?

If not then you may not have connected it back correctly.

Expect £40 to £50 dealer or about half that at an Indy

Thanks cj , battery was disconnected for 30 mins and did not touch ignition and have checked 3 times for correct recoonection and all looks good in that respect Thanks for your reply Steve

Cheers mate just been offered reset by the indie i use.. foc... cant ask for more than that :D at least i hope it means fre of charge and not f*** o** C*** then again my last service bill was 880 springs caliper etc good customer service still lives on

Reset for free is great

You have to worry as though as it's possible you have a damaged harness or connection inside or to the airbag.

The only reason the light comes on is if the circuit is powered up and somehow broken, unless of course it's a completeky unrelated fault that's triggered it.

Starting to think it could be worth compiling a list of independents who will reset the airbag for free, or for a small fee. BMW charging for doing that is ridiculous in my mind, they should be happy with the possibility of getting paid for whatever work they may get depending on the actual fault that is found, if any.

Once I fit my mfsw retrofit cable on Saturday I've got her booked in for a airbag light reset at a local indy back in Suffolk. Shouldn't be more than about a tenner max.

Well if they are nice. Guy near me charged me £10 the first time and £15 the second! Sod :D But saying that an indy also near me charges £30 minimum

Guess that's the gauntlet you run with at the indy's; depends how they're feeling that day :D
