During the lockdown the car was hardly used and the battery went flat a few times. The battery is now fully charged but I can't get rid of the airbag warning light.
I have tried disconnecting and re-connecting the battery without success. My Foxwell NT510 scanner shows a fault code 93BB : No message ( 1 2 ) from satellite B pillar left. I have tried deleting the code from the Safety Information Module. The Foxwell says it has been deleted but when I read the codes it is still there and the airbag light is still on. I have tried to interrogate the STVL (left) satellite module but the Foxwell cannot communicate with it. It will communicate with the right hand satellite.
I have looked at the satellite unit and the connections are clean and dry and there are no exposed wires. I have taken the unit apart and it looks like new inside. I recently had the door card off to fix a squeaking window, but I did not touch the airbag in the door.
I have run out of ideas. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
 
Hi, it would help to know year and model of your Zed. The Foxwell is not ideal but based on what you have it's probably only giving you a partial read. I use a Creator 310+ and drive the menus manually. The code 93BB also relates to a seatbelt code (Seatbelt-catch contact,passenger) so that's worth checking. You could also check the passengers seat occupancy mat (connector under seat). Finally, it could be the same as mine and the pressure sensor in the passenger door could be at fault. Possibly not the most helpful of answers but it should give you some more lines of inquiry. PM me if you're near the Midlands, I might be able to get a better read on the code.
 
First of all. Check and verify your battery voltage. If it's too low, you won't be able to communicate with some modules. Voltage should be around 12.5V.

Also, there are 5 places to reset airbag faults.
1. Safety information module
2. B pillar left
3. B pillar right
4. Satellite left
5. Satellite right
You have to go in all these modules to reset. I used INPA. I just went thru the whole thing when a passenger seat occupancy sensor failed.

Thank you for the suggestions. The car is a 2003 model with the 2.5 engine.
I am in Lancashire so not really close to the Midlands.
I have ordered a Creator 310+ so I will see if I can get any more info from the nearside B pillar and satellite.

Thank you for the info. The battery voltage is 12.8 so that should be OK.
I have tried to use INPA but it freezes after I have selected the vehicle details. My Foxwell diagnostic kit will access the SIM and right hand pillar and satellite but not the left hand. Hopefully the Creator 310+ will access them.
 
Interesting. Could you have acidentially disconnected or damaged the airbag plug when you pulled the door card?

Btw, the reason the code is still there after resetting, is the fault is still there.

You might want to install ISTA and see if you can communicate with that module. Download from Bimmergeeks. Easy to install, but a pain having to use their download software. Also the file is huge.

And as Armscarf mentioned, that code is for the seat belt buckle. You might want to start your troubleshooting there.
 
I bought a Creator but it did not give me any further info. The airbag plug inside the door looks secure.
After a number of sessions deleting codes I am left with one: 987B SBSL: "Coding, firing circuit belt tensioner, rear left, at variance."
I have obtained and fitted a used tensioner but I still can't get rid of the error code. I have taken the seat out again and sprayed the connections with contact cleaner. (The SIM shows no error codes).
Does the tensioner have to be coded to the car? If not, can anyone tell me how to check the tensioner circuit with a multimeter?
