Air Bag light / B Pillar Satellite

I've had the airbag light showing for the last couple of years on my Alpina RS. Over the last couple of months I've just got around to my indy trying to sort it.

When the initial diagnostics was carried out it showed there was an issue with the passenger side B-Pillar satellite unit. Unfortunately the passenger side carpet suffered from the dreaded leaking door membrane, which I also just got around to sorting. However when inspecting the existing B-Pillar satellite unit (part no - 65-77-6940299), it had badly corroded no doubt due to the prolonged water ingress under the passenger seat. Having then sourced and fitted a used replacement unit with the exact same part number it seems this has not resolved the airbag light issue when trying to reprogram via INPA.

Codes showing are related to the SBSL ....

At this stage I'm at a loss as to my next move to rectify this. I've spoken to the stealers regarding a new direct replacement B-Pillar satellite unit which is part number 65-776974366 & it's around £300. Obviously I want the passenger airbag to operate, but at this stage I'm unsure where the issue lies & don't want this to become an endless money pit.

I too am in the middle of investigating an errant airbag light. From what I've read the passenger seat's weight sensor may be the issue. Have you explored this possibility?

Did you go in multiple modules with Inpa? There's the top level safety and then there is left and right b pillars and left and right satelite. You have to check and reset each module.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

On the diagnostics check it has always come up as the passenger side B pillar satellite. I had serious water ingress due to a leaking door membrane. So removed the module which was badly corroded & replaced with a used module with the same part number.

Only last week my local BMW indy guy ran it through INPA to reset & sync up but the light still showing. Absolute mare!!
