Air Bag Light 2003 2.5i

Hi everyone

The airbag light has come on on my Z4 and I have been unable to clear it.

I have read the codes and have the following

98B5 no message (ox9) from safety and information module(E85) or vehicle centre satellite (E6x) SBSR reciever SFZ transmitter

98B7 no message (oxb) from B-pillar satellite left, SBSR receiver SBSL transmitter


The second one seems to refer to the module in the b pillar on the passenger side. However does any body know what the first one is on about, or is it just a generic code still related to the faulty module in the B pillar?

Also does anybody know if I picked up a second hand module for the b pillar would it be plug and play or are they all coded the the vehicle?

first have you checked under seat that the big yellow connector is connected? second check wires from seat belt pre-tensioner are ok and you haven't trapped them.
Check under carpet, there is a join under rear of seat for damp, If wet then check roof drain holes as this might cause water ingress into cabin and onto SBSR module which is located under carpet rear corner of inner cill.
 
Would like to know if op solved the issue, I’m having comms issues with the lh b pillar module, sometimes I can see it, but mostly not. Found water under the passengers seat today so I’m guessing my wiring/module are getting wet…. Will try and get the seat out this weekend, dry and clean everything off and see if the connection is better. :cry:
