Air bag indicator light problem

Hello,

I've got a 2005 Z4 with about 23,000 miles on it. Just last week the passenger air bag light came on. About 2 years ago the air bag light came on warning me the passenger air bag system wasn't activating. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it saying it was a glitch in the computer. They reset it and all was fine. I have also received a letter from BMW stating there can be a problem with the passenger detection mat which they will warranty for 10 years.
I was informed by the dealer today that there would be a $99.00 charge to diagnose the problem. If it's the detection mat there will be no charge. So, if it's just about reseting the computer, is that something I can do?
I had a problem with my Toyota truck and all I had to do was unhook the battery terminal for about 30 seconds and that reset the computer. Could I be so lucky with the Z4?

!!!!!!!!!!Sorry! I failed to notice when I posted this that there were a BAZILLION posts about this issue. Kinda sad really.

Airbag lights can only be reset by the dealer or with suitable equipment held by some indy dealers.
No 'tricks' such as disconnecting the battery I'm afraid to say.

Thanks "jeeper" for responding. I think

Well, went to the dealer today to get my airbag light checked out. Turns out (according to the service manager), the diagnosis found various low voltage faults. They checked all the sensors and were OK. They cleared all the faults and retested and they were OK "at this time". I drove a little today and the light has not come back on.
I'm sceptical. :? The day the light came on I had been driving for hours. Shut the car off for about 10 minutes, restarted it and that's when the light came on. I wouldn't think the battery would have been low at that time.
In their defense, the car is a 2005 with 22,000 miles on it and still has the original battery. So it's at least 5 years old. Maybe it's time to get a new one. It has always started strong and the little green ball is in the window.

Man, I've got to figure a way to clear these fault codes. It was a $100.00 bill today.

UPDATE--------
Well, as I expected, the light is back on! Took it back to the dealer to have them try again. Now they say there were no low voltage codes like before but the left and right front impact sensors show faulty. They confirmed that they were bad by testing them somehow. (funny, last time they said they checked out OK). They quoted me $335.00 parts & labor. I AM NOT HAPPY! I just have a really strong feeling that if I do spend the money for that repair that that light will come back on in a week. They told me that if I have a crash the airbags will not deploy.

well mine came on today- question is how bad is it? Do I need to get it to the dealer asap or can I o my roadtrip to wales? It's not a prob if its best not to drive it as the better halves beetle convertable is comfy cruiser
