Hi everyone newbie here , looking for a air bag control module for my z4 e85 2003 as my unit is causing the canbus line voltage to drop to 4v and causing all sorts of electrical gremlins, now its disconnected all seems ok apart from the air bag system. part number on my original is 65 77 6935920. Ive looked on the bay and no luck so far.

Hello, whereabouts are you?
You could also fit one of these that says exchangeable:

I'll look to see if I have any, however....................... twice now I have sent these out and the garage asked to code them has not actually been able to. No idea what they do, but they manage to kill the modules, then I get asked for a refund as they don't work! Of course, I can't prove it either way.
So now I will not just post out. I will however arrange to supply, fit and code the module if I have a suitable one. That way, if it is dead I can either try another one or leave you no worse off and paying nothing.

suny somerset, lovely this time of year
How much would a used module be worth as I've seen one for sale for £250 from a breakers.

Yes I saw that. Top dollar! They have been around 150-180 for a while but people are realising they are starting to go wrong. If you get that one be sure it has a warranty

thanks I might waite and see what comes along, ive taken the car off the road now for the winter, just hate leaving it in bits.

Hi, I have got hold of a used SIM part no 6939811,I have fitted it which has sorted my canbus issues,I have recoded to my car using mikes bmw coding tools. It has now been given a new part number 6962767 and correct VIN which it has picked up from the daten files i presume, when coded back into the vehicle from the pc. I am unable to set the clock time using tool 32,it gives me an error of ecu conditions not correct.
When I look into the SIM controller via INPA I have 3 error codes:
93E4 sim key operated switch.
93E6 SIM airbag signal lamp deactive circuit open.
93AC which is system time fault.
My Z does not have the facility to turn the airbag off, so no switch or warning light hence the errors.
Are these errors stopping me from resetting system time ? The recoded SIM is out of a newer vehicle but is compatible according to realoem.
Have searched google and found nothing, any help much appreciated.

I have done quite a few of these now and even with cars without the airbag off switch, I have never seen those codes come up. Usually INPA would initially show a VIN code error. Then when that is done you check again and it shows a 'systemzeit' (system time) error until that is set correctly.
It seems you have set the VIN correctly (they always show the latest part number regardless of what you fit).

I assume you are following the comprehensive instructions promulgated on this forum?
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LdQXN4JM8V0-s6Xa_E9ZeMlkED_i9vpm/edit

Did you do the NCS Expert operation after setting the VIN in WinKFP?

If INPA shows the correct part number now and you are certain the VIN is correctly input, then possibly try re-running the NCS Expert step.
Also make sure that you go into INPA and reset ALL codes against the SIM85, SBSL and SBSR.

Then try Tool32 again.

Never rule out the possibility you have bought a duff module either.

OK thanks ,i have come across on Google someone who had a similar issue but they didn't say how or if they sorted it,I'll try your suggestions, thanks for getting back to me.

Hi, when in NCexpert using TOMR crib sheet, I would like some clarity on the procedure for step 14.
Choose any module you want from list, I've been choosing AKMB or ALSZ
Then click f6 back
Then select f4 process ECU
Then choose module from the drop down, is this supposed to be the module selected earlier ie AKMB or in my case the sim module, if i select SIM module I get a failure pop up. So i have been choosing AKMB or ALSZ and pop up "all went ok" comes up.
Carry on with the rest of instructions but when i get to the end of tool32 I'm still getting "ECU conditions not correct or request sequence error" message so not resetting system time.
Errors in INPA 93 E4 sim key operated switch,
93 E6 sim airbag lamp deactive circuit open
93 AC System time fault
I have downloaded v71 daten files but still no joy.
Your help so far is much appreciated.

You select the module you are coding.
If you are doing that and it is still not working it sounds like you may have a dud.

Hi again, have gone through procedure on crib sheet, and as suggested i now select sim85,thanks, which gives me this error;
"Der Codierindex folgender Steuergeräte ist für diesen Codierauftrag nicht zulässig: SIM 05.
Translated to ; The coding index of the following units is not permitted for this coding order SIM05.
Up until this step everything goes well .
Any thoughts suggestions or should i just invest in a box of matches.

Strangely had not heard of that code before, then two of you mention it in 24 hours.
