I have put a sizeable deposit down on a Black Z4MC! :D

Still listed on their site at the moment, but it's a recent trade in and so I can't have it until the book comes back.

Also, noticed some slight steering wheel vibration on the test drive at 70mph. I know this can affect the 3 litres, but wasn't aware it did the M. So they're having their master tech look at it on Monday.

Once both of those things are fixed, then it's time for it to come to me! Can't wait.

It's just had an inspection 2 as part of the trade in. Tyres and pads are good. Plenty of options (need to investigate the intravee thing now, though... any help appreciated) and, even though it's 50k miles, it's a one owner car and all services have been done at the place I bought it from - the same place that supplied it new. And I didn't pay the sticker price, obviously! :D
 
Congratulations, you do know though that the roof doesn't come down in a coupe without major reconstructive surgery :D

I've never noticed any steering wheel vibration on mine, so it's good you're able to have that looked at before you take delivery. Hope the wait doesn't feel too long.

Interesting little flap-like widget at the front of the seat. I assume that's either some kind of "comfort" option or a standard thing on newer models/Ms?

:thumbsup: Good if you've got long legs and long journeys to complete.

A little "chatter" through that fat streering wheel is normal but it should change with the road surface. If not then look at wheel alignment and the wheel balancing. If its still there, then there is a problem.

No, unfortunately I forgot to take pics before paying the deposit - and by the time I'd left they'd put it into their storage car park thingy across the road!

Pics will be up later this week as soon as I take delivery, don't worry. Then I need to compile a to do list. So far, probably:

- intravee (which is the best thread for instructions on this? Bearing in mind I'm a moron with cars, is it best paying someone to do it?)
- carbon spoiler
- black the wheels
- light (legal) tints
- stubby (already ordered! Left my other on my old car for the new owner)

You don't need to pay anyone to fit it. I also wrote the following to help Fragga and I know he found it an easy install:

"With carpets removed/moved to the side, you'll see a hole and through that the back of one of the cubby hole boxes. Under that bottom box there will be two small wires not connected to anything. Maybe stick your digital camera in there and take a shot if you can't crane your neck to see the wires. Once you fish them out they both plug into the black Intravee box (as per my 2nd shot in your thread).

I had some double sided trim tape and stuck the Intravee to the floor – Pic 5 shows the Intravee stuck in place in the hole (albeit at a funny angle!).

The blue cable connects Intravee to KCA 420i and the black cable from the KCA is what is fed through a hold in the back of the cubby hole box. I used a counter sink bit to make a hole big enough - with a friend holding the box in position from inside the car as the pressure I was applying with the drill was pushing the box out of it's clipped-in position!

If you look closely at pic 5 you can see around the hole where the Intravee lives is a plack plate, and on that black plate is some grey stuck-on felt tape. I removed this tape (lighter fuel removes any glue residues) and then with more double sided trim tape I stuck the KCA on that black plate, so the KCA now is stuck in front of (and blocking) the hole where the Intravee lives so I'd have to pull the KCA off just to get to the Intravee if I needed to get to it for some reason. The bottom of the KCA rests on the lip at the bottom of the black plate, and I also used some cable ties just to secure it in case the trim tape failed (which I would doubt). I left enough space for the cables to move freely, and that's about it.

The iPod cable is so long I can pull it to my windscreen, so sometimes I plug my iPhone in and stick the phone onto the windscreen with a generic phone holder and use the Tom Tom app on that if I need some decent sat nav... the BMW one isn't exactly fantastic! With that particular set up I get Tom Tom directions played through the cars speakers."

How much should I be looking to pay for both the Alpine and intravee?
Do they both come with the necessary cables?
I notice you have bluetooth: how does the intravee/alpine affect this? I only have an iphone, not a separate ipod, and it needs to do both jobs.
 
Spud, you'll need both of these; so just over £250. They do sometimes pop up for sale second hand for around £150(?) though, so it's worth holding out if you can wait - you don't need brand new kit.

No probs.

I bought mine for £200 I think second hand 1.5 years back. My Alpine has the wake-up mod so it always wakes the ipod as soon as I get in the car. All cables should come with the kit.

The new kit doesn't affect bluetooth whatsoever, but I would strongly advise getting an (in my case a 2nd hand 80gb) ipod to live permanently in the storage area between the seats so you don't have to faff around plugging in your phone all the time. Seriously, use a dedicated iPod rather than your phone – saves such a lot of time and hassle every journey.

Whats the wake up mod?

My alpine unit should be arriving tomorrow. Got the Intravee from Playalistic last week :thumbsup:

Total price under £140 :)

I have an old iPod touch, first gen, which I'll leave connected in the cubby hole.
