Ah well! :-(

Been offered £2600 for the car. If I want to buy it back that’s £260 + fees.

What are your thoughts please?

Found out the rear spoiler they refer to is the small spoiler at the rear of the hard top! :headbang:

I had mine wrapped in CF vinyl! :( 4BA6CB66-A819-4CE0-88FD-3237827BA191.png

Can the car be repaired for £2k is the first thought, it looks like its heavily damaged from the images.

£2600 also seems very low - I would start looking at the internet and sending adverts for comparable cars, and say that what I need to replace the car - do not accept their first offer.

You need to push for a higher offer - never accept their first number.

But if £260 + fees means you can sell the Aeros, hard-top and M-Sport seats surely it's a no-brainer to buy it?

You could get around another £2,600 for those bits alone! Just wondering but did those wheels survive?

I realise you may not be feeling up to doing that yourself at the moment but maybe enuff_zed would be able to help out?

Wishing you all the best with your recovery anyway.

2.3k for a replacement car is rather low. What engine do you have and what is comparable to buy now for a car in that condition?

I seem to remember it is a 2.0 litre underneath all the 'stuff'?
If it is, I would bite their hand off. Take off all the sellable bits first, mind.

I agree with Mr Tidy - assuming they're undamaged, the aeroskirts and hardtop will each cover a third of the c £3k total cost to keep the car. I'd be happy to buy the cill extensions if they can be salvaged, and I'm sure there will be interest in the exhausts (+/- rear bumper) and some of the interior.
Have you bought that rather lovely 8 series yet?!

Not forgetting the almost brand new dark blue roof. That’ll fetch a bit. Plus the seats and door cards.
Even the yaw sensor under the seat is up to £150 these days.
With fees then you should get the car back plus around £2200 do we think?
If you have time and space to store a few bits then you should get that up to £4k, especially if the wheels are ok.
And to answer a previous question, yes I’m happy to do the spannering. If you can find a second person to help it would get the carcass off your drive a lot quicker.
I even have a set of 16” wheels we can stick on to keep it mobile if needed

There is a lot of value in the parts. Wonder how you can move the car though as the front looks collapsed, hopefully the skirts have not been destroyed by the tow company

I'll help take the roof off.

If this was a standard 2 litre in good condition it's likely worth £2k. Items you've lost above standard spec is the front bumper, which is around £600 above standard, and potentially the set of wheels, that front could be buckled. I don't know what the standard wheels were to be able to price the added value. Side skirts could be ruined now, like pvr states.

Best case is that you're down £600 for the front bumper and £240 + fee's for buy back. £2600, whilst low, is probably not that far off if you buy it back. Obviously try and get more if you can.

[ref]Usel[/ref], if you are able to help we could achieve a lot in one day and I could finish it the next I reckon.

[Ref]jock156[/ref] have you got storage space for the parts?

My advice is to start advertising the larger parts for sale which will be collection only asap.

Start collecting boxes, newspaper, bubble wrap and buy a sharpie marker pen. Once all the parts are in a pile it's a bit daunting, so its best to photograph, advertise and box as you go along.

If you want the car put in a barn in Rishangles Suffolk I can likely sort that for £50 a month. Just make sure you can get the car collected for scrap from there. I can move the car about if needed as there is a forklift on site.

Well, it seems I'm off to Norwich (had my jabs) on Wednesday to take on the rather sad task of dismantling Brian's car.
From the windscreen back it's all fairly untouched so let's hope we can save a few good bits and put some pennies in the coffers for the next one.
I'm fairly clued up on what the valuable bits are, but if anyone has any suggestions of specific bits to harvest, please do speak up in case I forget them.

I'm sure you know better than most of us.

Maybe not quite so obvious would be cup-holders and cruise control stalk if it has them, and those covers for the screw-heads on the centre console.

Hi, possibly interested in the quad exhaust. I realise that it's on a 2.0 and i have a 3.0. Does Jock have any pictures of the system from the underside of the car? I was hoping that i could modify it to fit my 3.0. Cheers

[ref]Jock156[/ref], do you have any photos?

I’m interested in the cill extensions attached to the aeroskirts (but not the aeroskirts themselves). If there are cupholders and the driver’s side is in good condition, I’d be interested in that too.
We’ll be back in the UK for a few weeks fairly soon and I’ll be gathering parts for my Lotus whilst we’re there, so would be keen to ship everything to Aus in one box :)
