Ah well! :-(

Feeling for you. That is pretty much exactly what happened to end the life of my MR. :( Good to hear you are ok. hope the other fellow is too.

It looks like he hit you fairly hard, glad you're both ok. Did that skinny wheel and tyre on the pavement come from his car? No wonder he couldn't stop in time!
Unless the hardtop is specifically listed on the insurance as being fitted to the car, I would suggest that you have legitimate grounds for removing it when you collect your other belongings that you were carrying with you in the car.
Out of interest, where did you get the cill extensions attached to the underside of the aeroskirts?

Absolutely gutted for you, Brian, but glad you got out of it fairly unscathed. Hopefully, you'll be able to salvage some of the parts you fitted. Really was a cracking looking zed.

So sorry to hear this, glad you are ok, which is the important thing. Years ago I had a hand painted Mini Metro cave in the back of my car (it was an Escort) at a set of traffic lights, and the old guy got out of the Metro looked at his and then my car and said, not much damage, we wont say anything about it! :oldman: Luckily we have dashcams now to capture incidents like this, I've just fitted one in my G29.

Back after a needed rest, still in bed most of the time as my sternum area aches like feck! :( Other than that, ship shape & Bristol :D A big thank you for your kind works and positive thoughts

Hopefully buy the car back and strip it for parts, I’ll use this thread so I know who asked first for what etc

So whilst I’ve been laid up I’ve been looking at a replacement, I’ve never driven either model so your thoughts would be appreciated. I do around 5k miles a year, use a car daily, outside 24/7. A priority (up there for the first time  ) is comfort

1st choice, purely because I’ve always loved them and it’s an itch that’s always been there :D 8) It’s now or never with this. Back of my mind is saying ITS NOT REALLY A DAILY

2nd Choice no brainer really but 3 Litre this time. I love the model in this colour, not too keen on the seat colour but that’s a minor issue.

3rd choice is a BMW 4 Series............

Brian, there will always be an E89 out there. I say put that to one side and scratch the itch.

Goes without saying I will happily help you strip your car if needed.

Cheers Martin, I’ll need to slip it into the conversation with Linda but how long would it take to strip the parts so the car can finally be scrapped and off my drive, just so I know timescales etc

Work out what bits you want to keep and i'm looking at two days work................. assuming you have somewhere to store the parts?
A lot of good bits will fit in a couple of large boxes of course. The exhaust may be a challenge to save in that time. The almost new blue roof will hopefully find a new home quickly, as should the hard top and MFSW. Hopefully the aero sills survived too.

Juast need you there with a laptop, advertising each part as it comes off.

Would a E85 MFSW fit an E89??

Not fussed about the exhaust Martin. Aeros, Carbon skirts, seats/ cards, Carbon engine bits, wheels, hard top and anything else you can think of :|

No worries, I can lay into that lot no problem. Let me know if it's a goer.
Definitely the new soft top roof too.

If you are brave enough and have that emergency fund, go for the 850 and rest assured they are a future classic that will only appreciate.
However I am neither brave nor rich and have a Z4 3.0 30i in deepsea blue.

Keep recovering. :)
