aftermarket sub

Hi.

I've recently picked up an e89 z4 23i. Awesome car and I'm loving it. However it's got the base level speaker setup, and I find myself wanting more.

I've ordered some bmw replacement 4" mids, but I don't want to shell out for a bmw subwoofer and Amp.

Can I just tap into the rear shoulders speakers, run it to an aftermarket Amp and hook up a small sub woofer to that with a low pass?
 
Just a punt but I asked the same question once of my old E86 and someone with a lot more technical knowledge than me on such matters said no.

But agree with you, I had basic set up in my E86 then the better HiFi option in the E85 I bought after and its chalk and cheese how much better it is.
