First off, apologies if this is in the wrong section. There is an audio section but its in the how-to area and this is anything but.
I am starting down the road of experimenting with an aftermarket head unit and various tweaks and have stumbled at the first hurdle
I am now the owner of an E86 Z4M (whoopee) with the following options that I can see as perhaps being relevant to my endeavour:
S664A Preparation f mobile phone w Bluetooth
S692A Preparation, BMW 6-CD changer I-bus
S249A Multifunction f steering wheel
S662A Radio BMW Business CD
[No 676 or 677 option]
I would like the volume controls on the steering wheel to keep working.
I have purchased an Erisin es8588u android head unit. A diagram of the head units wiring is on that page if you scroll down.
I know I need a steering wheel control interface but looking at the Connects2 website there are several to choose from and I am unsure which I need. Could anyone advise?
Looking at that page there are several that say they are suitable for an E86 Z4, in particular :
BMW Steering Wheel Control Interface...Supplied with both 17 and 40 way connection leads.
BMW Steering Wheel Control Interface...Non amplified vehicles.
BMW Steering Wheel Control Interface. Also Retains OEM Active Amplified System.
Once that is sorted I will need the lead to connect the SWC box on the above cabling to the head unit. The head unit has seperate K1/K2 wires and again Connects2 have a bunch to choose from.
I would be grateful for any help at all.
