Aftermarket Stereo Engine RPM whine

I decided to replace the stereo in my 2003 Z4 E85 as the head unit was missing when I bought it and a few of the speakers were broken.

It took me 4 tries to find a head unit that didn't pick up engine RPM whine.

I am running external amps to drive speakers (not using any internal HU amp channels to run any speakers.)

Here is the list of HUs I tried and my thoughts:

1) Atoto A6 2v preouts horrible engine whine and 10" touchscreen was way too big

I decided to give up on touchscreen and go with standard 1DIN HU

2) JVC KDX-38MBS 4v preouts slight engine whine much better than Atoto but still annoying

3) Kenwood KMM-X705 5v preouts bad engine whine very annoying

4) Alpine UTE-73BT 2v preouts very clean almost no engine whine. Have to really concentrate to hear engine whine. Even though it only has 2v preouts it is way louder that JVC/Kenwood as I had to turn down the gain on external amps. Decided to keep this HU

I am curios have others experienced engine RPM whine with aftermarket heads? What did you try and what worked good for you?
