I am on the verge of changing the wheels on my car (escape from RFT's is nigh whoop whoop). Does anyone have any experience of Bayern Alloy Wheels ? Are they good quality/durable ?

Cheers in advance

No, but I took a punt with the VMR's earlier in the year rather than going the OEM route as I wanted something a little bit different also going from 17's with non-RFT's to 19's with non-RFT's at the same time, if you like them go for it.

I love ur wheels mate

Job done. Got a decent price on a set of 18" Bayern Type 5's running on Falcens. Staggered fitment was an option but figured is it really worth the extra cost. Pics to follow (along with hopefully rave reviews on how much better the ride is off RFT's)

I looked at Bayern Staggered Multi spokes, but didnt change in the end, looking forward to the pics, if they are dished though I would def go staggered.

What do we mean by 'staggered' this context? Its not a word I've come across when talking about wheels and tyres before? :?

UPDATE: Sussed it.....note to self "remember the wonders of t'internet and Mr Google"...

A word of caution - the Z4 has staggered rims as standard (at least on 18's) - the track width may mecessitate staggered wheels for the rears not to be too far in, or the front too far out.

I'm sure there are others that would know more about this here - but I assume BMW does this for a reason!

Cheers for the tip. Does anyone else have any ideas regarding whether I have to purchase staggered alloys to fit right before I purchase.

i went for 19's staggered with F:235/35/19 & R:265/30/19. I think if your going for a dished rim its always better if you can go up a size, as they can look small in 18"...

i also looked at the Bayern rims, but ended up with BBS LM Reps...can looks miles better for it. the ride is actually better than the 18's i had with the runshi** tyres fitted.

The reason they are staggered is to reduce oversteer. The same offset front and back will be fine and the rims will be equally spaced unless you put them on an 'M' as it has a different axle length.

Proof of that is a Z4 on 16" as they are the same width all round, also put M wheels on a standnard Z4 and the rears will poke out a bit.

They are staggered width standard (only 0.5 inch), but the offsets are only 3mm different as well. Not sure what the track width is standard front and back, but either way, with same offset wheels (if you go non-staggered, and irrespective of the actual wheel width), you are not changing things much if you stick to the same tyre sizes as standard.

That said, mounting the front tyres on a wider wheel will improve their bite a little bit, so possibly just add a bit more limit oversteer tendancy... but it seems the Z4 standard is setup very safe for a rwd, so it understeers already near/over the limit.

The only way you will lose the understeer is to get rid of some of that excessive rear camber!
