I finally took the plunge and bought a set of the aftermarket headlights advertised on eBay as a cheap/non-invasive way to de-tango the Silver Bullet. First thing to say is I was really impressed with the eBay seller http://stores.ebay.co.uk/stylyzecarlightingwho dispatched the item in pretty sturdy packaging and promptly via courier. They are the same ones that imp75 has previously posted (thanks for answering my questions before I bought them!). I wasn't as luck as imp75 - he managed to get a returned set for less than £100. I managed to get mine for £270ish.
Quality of the lights in my opinion appears close to OEM. Imp75 had made a comment regarding the sealant looking a bit tatty when he bought his set, and I'm inclined to agree. Importantly, the sealant appeared to be intact and once the light is installed isn't visible. In total it took me around 3 hours, however that also involved stopping for a spot of lunch and to answer a phone call from SWMBO. Easily enough done by one person.
So here is a quick comparison between the old tango'd lights and the new ones...
Halway there...
And a final comparison with and without angel eyes on...
Sorry the picture quality isn't great - only had my phone to hand and it was threatening to rain! Will post some better photos when the car is washed and I'm out and about.
I really am impressed with the lights. I did have some doubts as I was waiting on them arriving but would buy again if I needed to. The only problem I can think of is that if I needed to adjust the headlights I may need to take the bumper off. No need to do this at the moment as the beam pattern appears satisfactory and it's too cold out to be playing with it needlessly!
